Wintertime Tree Service...
Winter dormancy allows for the least impact on tree health from pruning.
1) The stored energy of the tree has migrated from the branches down to the roots, therefore trees suffer less from losing branches in winter.
2) Tree diseases are inactive in the winter, so pruning cuts don't get infected until spring when the immune reponse is strongest.
3) Frozen ground is also less susceptible to damage from equipment.
We offer bundled discounts for a full day tree work in winter.

Our high tech equipment can go where others can't.

"Trees" A Poem by Joyce Kilmer 1914
"I think that I shall never see, A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest, Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear, A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain, Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree."

Evergreen Tree Choices for New England
Evergreen trees PDF What's in a Name My enjoyment of the town's green spaces and green corridors is the reason why I named my business "Trout Brook Landscaping" The little forested slices of West Hartford are a playground for observing nature.
I've always felt a strong connection and sense of discovery in Nature. Today, I have the good fortune to study nature for profit. Inspired by the miracle of wholistic "living systems" biology, I want everyone to discover nature's secrets.
'Living Soil' : Trees live in a dynamic environment of "just in time inventory" trading of nutrients and trace minerals with microbes in the soil. Their relationships with microbes are known as "symbiotic." These tiny microbial beings ( fungi, bacteria, protozoa) in the topsoil are fed by the trees sugars, and in turn, help the tree digest proteins and minerals.
Living soil brings us to a new way of looking at health. The opposite of health is disease. "Disease" is merely two words put together "dis - ease." A community of organisms is sick when it has dis - ease.
Just as "Gut Flora" in the human stomach helps us to digest food, microbes in soil help trees absorb food. When root systems are disturbed (pesticides or herbicides, or digging), the microbes that trees need, suffer and dis-ease in the system starts to develop.
Now we have a perspective of the tree as part of a self sustaining, interdependent living system.

"One of the most responsive and friendly landscape artisans anywhere. Very experienced and exceptionally reliable team. They cut our grass, work on our trees, feed our lawn and provide incredible advice about any and all aspects of dealing with our property. Very reasonably priced and always courteous. Even some of our "out of the box" requests get handled creatively in a very timely fashion. Give them a call. You will not be disappointed."

"Andrew and his team at Trout Brook Landscaping have been working at our house in West Hartford for the past two years. We've used them for gutter cleaning, spring and fall leaf cleanup, mulching, and plant bed work...and recently we had Andrew supervise removal of 14 trees including a very large pine that was threatening to fall on the house. I have been very pleased with the quality of their work...Andrew is responsive, listens to what we want to do, and gets it done quickly at a reasonable price."

Andrew and his guys are fast, efficient, hard-working and incredibly helpful. As a disabled woman, I wouldn't be able to manage in the winter without them; they're an absolute godsend. (And they're fantastic for mowing, hedge-trimming, raking, and hauling away tree branches after storms, too!)

Andrew and his crew have been wonderful to work with. Responsive to our needs,willing to talk with us about any job we ask. Their response time and attention to detail are whats sets them apart from their competition. We have used them for both snow removal and for spring cleanup and would recommend them.
